Bolton manager Owen Coyle has dismissed the intense criticism he suffered at the hands of his former supporters following last night's win over Burnley.
The Trotters secured a critical 1-0 win that moved Coyle's side up to 15th in the table and clear of the relegation zone, while his former club Burnley dropped into the bottom three.
Coyle was subjected to abuse from the visiting fans at the Reebok Stadium, with several banners and chants of 'Judas' before kick-off and throughout the match.
But the former Clarets boss shrugged off the criticism and said he is comfortable with the way he conducted himself throughout his departure from Turf Moor.
"We were always going to come in for a bit of stick," Coyle admitted.
"I think it's probably testimony to the job we did that they're disappointed that we've left and they feel aggrieved by it.
"What I would say is that the only person aware of all the facts surrounding the whole situation is myself and I know that I've conducted myself every step of the way in the right manner.
"Ultimately I made a footballing decision, nothing more and nothing less. I came to a wonderful football club that I know well."
Coyle said he doesn't blame the Burnley fans for their reaction during the game, and praised them for their unwavering support for him during his two-year tenure, which ended abruptly earlier this month following Bolton's sacking of Gary Megson.
"I wanted to thank them for the support they gave me when I was the manager," said Coyle.
"They were an incredible set of supporters, it's such a special club and [new Burnley manager] Brian Laws is in such a privileged position.
"I can't complain about it - they wanted to come and vent their anger.
"But if we're going to get biblical, then maybe it should be Moses, because we led them from the wilderness."
