A roundup of all the weekend's county cricket action from the County Championship.
Worcestershire's latest fixture against Lancashire was, typically, a victim of the weather, with neither team able to take to the field whatsoever.
Yorkshire and Surrey at least managed an innings each, with Adil Rashid (91 not out) top-scoring for the red roses, who made 307 all out, and Mark Ramprakash (59) and Rikki Clarke (65) top scoring in Surrey's 229. But after only one over and one ball of Yorkshire's second innings, the rain came in and washed out the rest of the four-day match.
Kent almost managed to record a victory over Warwickshire after totting up 550-9 in their first innings, with three centurions - Martin van Jaarsveld (117); Geraint Jones (105); and Yasir Arafat (101).
But despite bowling out the visitors for a paltry 107 in the first innings, Darren Maddy's stout 148 not out, during which he survived 334 balls, helped the Bears bat out the second innings until play was abandoned on 268-7.
One match that was a creditable draw, rather than a rain-induced bore, was Hampshire against Durham.
Hampshire number 11 David Griffths scraped through the last five overs of his side's second innings to help them scrape a share of the points.
With a target of 358 to win, Hampshire's reply was always destined to be a rearguard action aimed at securing a draw rather than a whole-hearted run chase and they duly finished the match on 262-9.
Michael Brown's magnificent 126 not out formed the main part of that resistance as much of the top order crumbled around him.
Michael Carberry returned to the pavilion having contributed just four runs to the effort before John Crawley came unstuck on 12.
Shane Warne's busy 50, in addition to a useful 26 from Michael Lumb, was the only substantial support for Brown as he struggled to save his side in the face of some tricky bowling from New Zealander Paul Wiseman.
The spinner finished with figures of 5-65 but could not add the crucial last scalp as Griffiths doggedly defended his stumps through the closing stages.
In division two, all of the matches ended in draws. Derbyshire shared the points with Glamorgan, Leicestershire drew with Middlesex and Essex and Somerset was also a no result.
