A five-year-old boy from Londonderry has died after falling into a swimming pool at a hotel near Disneyland Paris.
Colum Canning was staying at the Explorers hotel at the time of the accident and is thought to have fallen in shortly after arriving on Thursday.
The boy's aunt, Sophie Martin Canning, is reported as saying the boy went to Paris with his family for Christmas.
"They were playing down on the ground floor of the hotel at a play area, as children do, when my sister-in-law lost sight of him for a second... and she ran searching for him," she is quoted by the BBC as saying.
Another child then apparently spotted the five-year-old in the swimming pool and a fellow guest jumped in and retrieved him.
"He was pulled out of the water. There was a doctor who came to the scene. But they said there was no hope."
Reports claim Colum was placed in a life support machine, but it was switched off on Saturday.
