Connie Fisher has won the hearts of the British public - and landed the role of Maria in a west end production of The Sound Of Music.
The 23-year-old Welsh call centre worker beat competitors Siobhan Dillon and Helena Blackman to the prize in the grand final of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?
"I feel on top of the world. Thank you so much - I will not let you down at all," Connie told the studio audience.
"Every night will be an opening night," she said, before squealing girlishly in excitement.
Andrew Lloyd Webber, who had chosen Connie as his choice before the public's vote was revealed, was extremely pleased with the show's winner.
"I've auditioned 6,000 people and I know the most all-round talented person I saw was Connie," judge David Ian said before the result was read out.
Over two million members of the public voted in the final.
Earlier in the evening Helena had sang Cabaret and Do Re Mi, while Connie had wowed the crowds with As Long As He Needs Me and The Lonely Goatherd.
Meanwhile a "gutted" Siobhan Dillon had been voted into third place, but it was up to the victorious Connie's grandmother to give the final word.
"She's fantastic," she said.
