Darren Clarke remained in contention for the Masters with one round to go, after a solid third round left him two shots behind the leader Phil Mickelson on two under par.
After his second round score the talented Northern Irishman, playing in his ninth masters, admitted he was playing "totally differently" to his usual performances in the Majors.
"This week is all about patience and hitting the ball in the right place on the greens," Clarke added.
Meanwhile, Mickelson took a one-shot lead into the final round at Augusta after adverse weather conditions had forced many of the competitors to squeeze part of their third rounds into the final day.
The 2004 champion, due to tee-off his final round at 19:52 BST, narrowly led Fred Couples, the 1992 champion, and Chad Campbell, who were both on three under par.
Tim Clark, Vijay Singh and Rocco Mediate were all in the same group as Clarke on two under par, a group which also contained four-time winner Tiger Woods.
Many of the other Europeans have already started their final rounds, with Jose Maria Olazabal, a two times winner, recently having birdied the second and third holes to get back to level par.
