Reported Manchester City target Carles Puyol insists he is happy at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving the European Champions.
City have had two big-money bids turned down for Chelsea captain John Terry and with the Blues maintaining they want to keep their key defender, City manager Mark Hughes was thought to be planning a move for Puyol.
But it looks like City will miss out on yet another player as Puyol revealed he is in talks to extend his contract at the Nou Camp.
"The truth is that today I am very calm," said Puyol. "I am contracted for another year at Barcelona and now we are working on the negotiations of a new deal.
"I have enjoyed every season here (Barcelona) and I want to stay here. For me there is no problem and I am not interested in the rumours in the papers."
Puyol is recognised as one of the greatest players to have ever played for Barcelona and it would be surprising if the 31-year-old ever left his hometown club.
The Spanish international made his debut for Barcelona in 1999 and has played over 400 games for the Catalans. Puyol led Barcelona to their memorable treble triumph last season and is targeting winning the Champions League at the home of bitter rivals Real Madrid next season.
