Manchester City have confirmed that the transfer of Dutch international midfielder Nigel de Jong from Hamburg has been completed.
The Bundesliga club revealed earlier this week that they had agreed a price for the 24-year-old, who starred for Holland at Euro 2008.
And today, City confirmed that the player had settled personal terms on a four-and-a-half-year contract with the club and passed a medical at Eastlands.
The value of the transfer is unknown, although sources close to the deal suggest it is worth in the region of 20 million (£18 million).
"Manchester City football club are delighted to announce that the signing of Nigel de Jong from Hamburg SV for an undisclosed fee has been completed," a statement from the club reads.
De Jong has become City's third major purchase of the January transfer window, and the second this week, after the £12 million signing of former Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge and the £14 million move for West Ham's Craig Bellamy on Monday.
