Chelsea are determined to keep hold of captain John Terry despite on-going speculation linking him to Manchester City.
The Blues have denied that they have failed to discuss City's interest in Terry with the England defender and insist Terry is happy with the way they have handled the situation.
Despite rumours that City are set to return to Chelsea with a third bid for the 28-year-old, Blues chairman Bruce Buck said Terry will definitely not be leaving.
"As a Chelsea fan I'd be devastated if John left but that's not going to happen," said Buck.
"John Terry is synonymous with Chelsea and Chelsea is synonymous with him.
"He has been here since he was a wee tot, he is captain of the club and captain of England. He is the backbone of our team and is not leaving."
The FA Cup holders also denied that there had been no contact between the club and player over the situation.
A Chelsea source told Press Association Sport that there had been a dialogue between Terry and the club while the defender is on holiday and that a formal meeting was planned when he returns.
The source said: "It is total nonsense to suggest that the club has not spoken to John Terry recently.
"He is well aware of our position that he is not for sale and he was pleased that both the club and the manager publicly took that position as we discussed it with him."
Reports in the press had earlier claimed that Terry felt 'betrayed and even unwanted' by Chelsea for even speaking to City about their proposed transfer offer.
