Chelsea cruised to an opening day victory in the Champions League with a 4-0 victory over Bordeaux at Stamford Bridge.
The French side had started brightly and could have taken the lead before Frank Lampard settled Chelsea's nerves with the opening goal after 14 minutes.
Jose Boswinga hit a beautiful cross from the right which was met by Lampard's downward header which bounced past Ulrich Rame in the Bordeaux goal.
Rame made saves from Nicolas Anelka and John Terry before Joe Cole doubled Chelsea's lead after half an hour.
Cole met Lampard's corner with a flicked header which gave Rame no chance.
Lampard should have had a third but fired wide when he probably would have felt he should have done better.
By this stage Chelsea were cruising but had to wait until the 82nd minute to get their third.
Florent Malouda got it when he fired low into the corner after collecting a clever back-flick from Lampard back-flick after great work from Jon Obi Mikel.
The Blues got their fourth in the dying minutes when Julio Belletti's long-range shot was tipped onto the crossbar by Rame, but Nicolas Anelka was perfectly placed to follow up and make it four and give Luiz Felipe Scolari the perfect start to his Champions League campaign.
