England's David Carter shot a second successive 65 to end the second day of the Dutch Open two shots clear at top of the leader board.

Carter is 10-under with the leading pack of New Zealander Steve Alker, Dutchman Joost Luiten and Swede Alexander Noren all on eight-under.

The 35 year old – who won the Irish Open and World Cup with Nick Faldo in 1998 – is currently 186th on the Order of Merit and is fighting a battle to save his card for nest season.

"I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and enjoy it - after all, how many times have I led a tournament in my career? It's not many", said Carter after his round.

He was equally diplomatic when talking about his fortunes on the course.

"It's not nice to be 186th on the money list and be trying to secure your job for next year but I can't run away from it, I have to deal with it. All I can do is play good golf and that will take care of it."

Bernhard Langer's son Stefan, a 17-year-old amateur who normally plays off plus one, added a 91 to his opening 98 to end his first pro event on 49 over par.

Langer Senior had better luck and carded 71 for two under alongside the Scottish trio of Andrew Coltart, David Drysdale and Stephen Gallacher.
