England defender Jamie Carragher has admitted that he enjoyed playing in the midfield anchor role and wants another crack at the position.
The Liverpool man started the 3-1 win over Hungary at Old Trafford just in front of the back four, before switching to right-back for the second-half.
Carragher admitted that he enjoyed the new role and he wants to play there again against Jamaica on Saturday.
"I would love to play there on Saturday as I enjoy that type of role because you get on the ball a lot more and you are always involved," he said.
"I was a bit disappointed I didn't get the chance to play the full 90 minutes but now it is up to Sven (Goran Eriksson) and if I get the chance to play there again, then great."
Carragher was replaced in the role at half-time by Bayern Munich's Owen Hargreaves, but Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick is also competing for the position.
However, the 28-year-old also admitted that it was a different role than he was used to and he needs games in the position to get familiar.
"It would have been nice to have at least another 20 or 30 minutes in there to get used to the role," Carragher added.
"Sven just asked me whether I fancied playing there and I was hardly going to say no, although I had an idea because I was moved there towards the end of the B international against Belarus."
Meanwhile, Eriksson has said that Gary Neville's hamstring trouble, which forced him off at the break during the Hungary game, is nothing serious and he was only removed as a precaution.
