AC Milan star Clarence Seedorf has warned England players that Fabio Capello will not go by reputation when picking his team.
The Italian is close to becoming the new England boss, with only his contract thought to be the final step in the Football Association (FA) announcing his appointment.
Seedorf played under Capello at Real Madrid in the mid 90s and he says all the England players will be treated the same by his former manager.
"He asks 100 per cent of every player in training and games but outside of that he can talk about various things, it is not like he is some kind of gangster," said Seedorf.
"One thing is for sure he will make sure everyone in the squad is committed and the ones who are not committed will probably not be part of the team.
"He won't make exceptions. He doesn't look at any player as more important. Everybody has to be committed and he will respect them," added the Holland international.
Seedorf believes Capello, who has won league titles in Spain and Itlay, as well as winning the Champions League, will be a success with England.
"There is no discussion about Capello's capability as a coach," said Seedorf. "It is going to be a real challenge for him to make something out of a talented team like England, but with the story not really positive.
"I know he will be dedicated and committed to making the best out of it. I think he will be very good for the English team. Capello is a very well respected coach all around the globe."
