Hull City have broken their transfer record to sign defender Anthony Gardner for £2.5 million from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old joined the club on an initial loan deal last month, but now he has put pen-to-paper on a three-year contract with the Premier League newcomers.
"We had an option to make the deal permanent at any stage, so I spoke to him and asked him if he would be happy to stay," said Hull manager Phil Brown. "He has been at the club for four or five weeks now and he said he would, so he now becomes our record signing."
Gardner has vast experience playing in the top division of English football with Tottenham. The defender moved to White Hart Lane from Port Vale in 2000 and went on to make 114 appearances for the Londoners.
He moved to Everton in January on loan but failed to make an impact at Merseyside, failing to make a single appearances for the Toffees.
Gardner has one England cap to his name which came in 2004 when Sven Goran Eriksson handed him his debut against Sweden. He was selected to go on the 2005 tour to America but had to pull out due to a foot injury.
