A bank which recently came to the UK has given the country a jobs boost by creating 100 new positions.
Metro Bank was launched in July and became the first new high street retail bank in Britain for more than a century.
It recently revealed that it would create a host of new positions at its new Earls Court branch, taking its total UK staff levels to 250.
"People have overwhelmingly responded to Metro Bank's service and convenience model and we are preparing to double the number of our staff to meet demand for a better banking experience," explained chief executive Craig Donaldson.
Such a move is a welcome boost for the banking sector, which suffered heavily during the credit crunch and subsequent recession.
Major players such as Halifax Bank of Scotland required assistance from other banks and the government was forced to bail out lenders such as Northern Rock.
Aside from this, other financial institutions, including Lehman Brothers, collapsed or were acquired under duress, causing hundreds to lose their jobs.
