London markets up 0.64 per cent in early trade on Tuesday
FTSE 100 gains 0.64 per cent by 09:40 GMT as energy stocks and banks lead gainers

The FTSE 100, Britain's leading shares index, was up 0.64 per cent at 36.03 points to 5,629.88 at 09:40 GMT on Tuesday morning.
Leading the blue-chip early risers was Royal Bank of Scotland Group (RBS), which gained 2.29 per cent, while Barclays PLC also gained, adding 1.85 per cent and HSBC Holdings was up 1.09 per cent.
Royal Dutch Shell also lifted the markets, adding 1.49 per cent, as the oil giant revealed its strategy for production growth. The firm also announced this morning a loss of 1,000 jobs, with Peter Voser, chief executive of Shell, saying: "We will continue to apply our exploration capabilities wherever they are appropriate, including our new leases in Egypt, South Africa and French Guiana. Resources found will be matured into the project funnel that drives our growth."
Dragging on the FTSE 100 in early trade was G4S, which led the fallers shedding 2.37 per cent -despite a 20 per cent rise in yearly profits.
Also dragging on the FTSE was Compass Group, losing 1.14 per cent.
