Burnley have signed out-of-favour Portsmouth striker David Nugent after completing the paperwork on the deal with just minutes remaining on transfer deadline day.
The former Preston man has agreed terms on a six-month loan switch with a view to a permanent move.
According to inthenews.co.uk sources at Portsmouth, Nugent had other options to choose from when offered a last-minute switch - including a transfer to fellow Premier League newboys Hull City.
However, Nugent, 24, has opted to sign for Owen Coyle and will add some much-needed top-flight experience and firepower to his squad.
