Bulls tamed by Warrington Wolves

Saturday, 08, Apr 2006 08:33

Despite a second period recovery, Bradford Bulls were defeated 22-18 at home by visitors Warrington.

It was the reigning Super League champions' first home defeat for ten months.

The sides scored four tries a piece, but it was the kicking of Lee Briers that proved to be the difference between the two teams.

Brears kicked three out of three goals to hand his side the victory, as Bulls kicker Paul Deacon could only muster a solitary effort.

Warrington went in at half time with an unexpected ten point lead. Although Bradford tries from Joe Vagana and Ben Harris made for a tense finish, Warrington held on.

Les Catalans made easy work of their match against Castleford, eventually running away with the game 51-14.

The team rattled up nine tries in all, as the visitors simply could not cope with the rampant home side.

The score stood at a dominant yet respectable 20-10 at half time and had been 10-10 for a long period before Les Catalans pulled away.

Things really started to go wrong for Castleford in the second half, as they only managed to notch up four more points while Les Catalans added 31 to their tally.

Among their half century was a hat trick of tries from Bruno Verges, as well as a couple from Aussie star Mark Hughes.

The match was played in Carcassonne, Catalans Dragons' third different stadium in as many weeks.track
