Wigan manager Steve Bruce has promised that his side will give their all in the Premier League title deciding game against Manchester United.
United will definitely win the league if they beat Wigan on Sunday, and they will also lift the title as long as they match what Chelsea do against Bolton at Stamford Bridge.
Some critics have argued that Wigan may not play to their potential as they have already secured their Premier League status and Bruce's own connection with Manchester United.
Bruce played for United for nine years and captained the team to league triumphs in 1993 and 1994. The defender memorably scored two late goals against Sheffield Wednesday in 1993 to win the league for United.
The United hero was also part of the side which agonisingly drew against West Ham in 1995 and saw the title go to Blackburn Rovers. But despite his decorated history with United, Bruce said that it wouldn't affect the game on Sunday.
"Everybody who knows me knows me better than that. What am I going to say to the team? 'Just roll over and let Man United win'?
"That's not going to happen. Make no mistake, we'll be trying our utmost," said Bruce, whose side could slip to 15th if they lose to United and that would cost them a substantial amount of prize money.
Wigan will have to play well if they are to get anything from United as the Reds have won all six league and cup games played between the two teams at the JJB Stadium.
