Police are searching for missing Briton Frances Embleton, 24, who was last seen in Sydney a week ago.
The law graduate was taking a year off after completing her law degree at Birmingham University and then her legal Bar exams.
She was due to fly to Bangkok to meet her father's partner but never turned up at the airport where she was expected.
Ms Embleton's father, Norman, from Hertfordshire said: "She is very sensible and well organised. It is out of character for her not to contact us. She is very close to her sisters.
"We are just hanging on waiting for a telephone call. It is very puzzling.
"The police in Sydney are checking her bank accounts to see if she has taken out any money."
Her father appealed for Ms Embleton to get in touch and called for her not worry if there were money issues or other problems.
The family is confused because she would usually contact her father and two sisters, Sally and Laura, on a regular basis.
Ms Embleton was living in the Cremorne area of Sydney and she was working part-time to pay for her travel with friends.
