Bristol squeezed past Newport Gwent Dragons with an 11-7 win at the Memorial Stadium in the European Challenge Cup.
In a low-scoring game, Richard Hill's side were led by a try from Dan Ward-Smith while Jason Strange kicked two penalties.
Winger Nathan Brew crossed the line for the Dragons with playmaker Ceri Sweeney converting.
Brew was sin-binned by referee Eric Darriere in the 36th minute as the hosts led 8-0 at the break.
Elsewhere, Glasgow thumped Italian side Parma 69-7 to secure their first win in pool two at Hughenden.
The Warriors, who were beaten by Saracens last week, rammed in ten tries with a hat-trick from centre Hefin O' Haire and a brace from scrum half Sam Pinder.
Andrew Henderson, Rory Lamont, Steve Swindall, and Kevin Tckachuk also crossed the line for the Scottish side while stand-off Dan Parks kicked six penalties.
The result is the biggest in Glasgow's history in all competitions in the professional era.
In pool five, Italian side Viadana mounted a stunning fightback to beat French outfit Albi 26-13 to pick up their first win of the campaign.
