Andy Murray recorded the best win of his career with a sensational straight sets win over Andy Roddick at Wimbledon.
Murray beat the tournaments third seed 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 to thrill the partisan Centre Court crowd and move into the fourth round.
The first set was tight as neither man could seize the initiative but Murray stole the set on a tie-break after fighting off four break points for Roddick.
The American power house was a beaten finalist in the past two Wimbledons but he could not cope with Murray in the second and third sets as the young Scot finished him off.
Murray told the BBC: "I think that's got to be my best win, beating a two-time Wimbledon finalist, former world number one and Grand Slam champion on Centre Court in three sets.
"I feel bad for Andy, he's such a great guy and a really good champion, and it's a shame I had to win against him."
Murray will play either Sebastien Grosjean or Marcos Baghdatis in the last 16 and, whatever the result in that, he will climb even higher in the world rankings.
