The Williams formula one team have announced the signing of Finnish formula three racer Valtterri Bottas as their new test and reserve driver.
The 20-year old finished third in last year's F3 series after winning the formula Renault Eurocup the previous year and he steps into the third driver role at Williams in place of Nico Hulkenburg, who has been promoted into a race seat with the Grove-based outfit alongside Rubens Barrichello.
"Valtterri's CV is very impressive, with a long list of success in the right junior formulae," said team owner Frank Williams.
"We hope that the role of official test driver in our squad will provide him with another step in his development."
Bottas said he feels honoured to be part of the Williams team and he hopes his new role will help him progress into a full-time F1 race seat, in the footsteps of Hulkenburg.
"This is a great way to start 2010," said Bottas.
"I am very honoured to have been selected by a team as prestigious as Williams, one of the most significant names in the sport.
"This is an important step in my career but now the real work starts to get to the top.
"I am sure I will learn a lot with the team and I trust that together we will achieve great results for the years to come."
