A plane leaving New York bound for Kentucky was redirected to Philadelphia following a bomb scare onboard.
CBS News reported that the US Airways flight 3079 from LaGuardia to Louisville was diverted after a man strapped a device from his fingers to his head after takeoff.
There are reports the 'device' could have been a Jewish tefillin, used for prayer.
It is believed the plane landed in Philadelphia to be surrounded by homeland security agents and a bomb squad.
The BBC reports the man has been taken into custody following the incident.
There has been a stepping up of counter-terrorism measures and security at airports has been increased by both the US and UK governments following a failed attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound plane on Christmas Day.
