George Boateng has confirmed that he is in talks with Middlesbrough about extending his stay at the Riverside.
Boateng has been linked with a move away from the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Dutchman's performances in the league and in particular, in the Uefa Cup have alerted a host of European clubs to his talents.
The 29-year-old has been a lynch pin would be a massive loss to the club and although teams such as AC Milan are interested it is thought that he would prefer to stay on Teeside.
Negotiations have been disrupted by a conflict between his agent Sigi Lens and Barry Silkman who was leading the discussions to begin with.
Silkman told the BBC: "We had a disagreement and I'm no longer involved in the deal.
"I don't know what will happen now as I'm not negotiating on behalf of George anymore. It's a very difficult situation but these things happen in football sometimes."
Boateng has played 112 league games for Boro since a £6.5 million pound move from Aston Villa in 2002.
