Former Cabinet minister Hazel Blears has attempted to play down an attack on her car while out campaigning in Manchester.
Footage has emerged showing the Citroen Xsara Picasso in which she was travelling with slashed tyres and a broken windscreen.
Ms Blears is believed not to have been in the car at the time of the attack, but the Manchester Evening News has obtained footage showing the Salford MP sat in the damaged car at a road junction.
The former communities secretary claims the attack was not the result of a concerted campaign against her.
Instead, it could be blamed on "teenagers with nothing to do on a hot afternoon," she said.
"This is just the actions of a tiny minority."
Ms Blears quit her position in the Cabinet after coming under serious scrutiny for her role in the MPs expenses scandal.
She was forced to repay the £13,000 she avoided paying in tax following the sale of her London flat.
The 53-year-old also survived a recent attempt to force her to stand down as MP for Salford.
