A David Dunn double helped moved Blackburn Rovers up to 11th in the Premier League as Sam Allardyce's men overcame Birmingham 2-1 at Ewood Park.
The talented midfielder was on the score-sheet with just five minutes gone after the Birmingham defenders failed to get the ball clear and Dunn slotted home left-footed from outside the area.
The score remained the same until the first period of the second half when Birmingham drew level through a James McFadden free-kick from the right edge of the penalty area.
It was Dunn though who would have the last laugh and he secured the points for Blackburn with a near-post header on 67 minutes.
The former Birmingham player could have had a hat-trick on the night but for the referee's decision to disallow a first-half effort after Michel Salgado was penalised for a foul in the build-up.
The result levels Blackburn 14 points clear of the drop zone and comfortable secure in mid-table, while Birmingham remain in ninth on 44 points.
