Ferrari has signed a long-term deal with formula three Euroseries racer Jules Bianchi.
The 20-year old Frenchman is the sole test driver for Ferrari at this week's young drivers' test in Jerez and has signed an indefinite deal with the Scuderia that could see him take on a test or reserve driver role within the team.
"I am more than happy," said Bianchi, who will race in the GP2 Series with the ART team in 2010.
"It is very difficult to explain how I feel, but it is something very special.
"I know this is the first step on a journey that could turn out very nicely, but I'm equally aware that there is still a long way to go to F1."
"It's a contract, but if I have a bad season next year, for sure they will not continue it.
"In your career so far you have done pretty much exactly what Nico Hulkenburg did. You have the same seat as him in GP2 and if you achieve the same as him this season, why shouldn't we see you in F1 in 2011?
"If I do manage it why not, but I still have to work, but I will do that and we will see next year."
Bianchi said, however, that he would like more time in the car and that the three-days set aside by the sport's governing body the FIA is not enough to fully acclimatise to F1.
"It's not enough," said Bianchi.
"If you're Nico Hulkenburg and you will be racing next season, it won't be enough for him and it would be better to have more time to prepare for the season.
"I am happy with what I've achieved so far because I didn't make mistakes, i did what the team asked me to do, so it's really good."
And when asked whether he believes he has what it takes to be the next Alain Prost, he said: "I'm still far away from F1, so it's not worth thinking about world championships.
"I mean, my only goal is to get into GP2 and to win the championship and then we will see."
