Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov has revealed that it is his "dream" to play for Manchester United.
The Bulgarian has been linked with a move to Old Trafford all summer, but the clubs have been unable to agree a fee.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy threatened to make an official complaint to the Premier League regarding their "public" pursuit of Berbatov.
Levy also denounced Sir Alex Ferguson as "arrogant" and "hypocritical" for going public about his intention to sign the striker.
Berbatov has now gone on the record to say that he wishes to move to the European champions.
"I'm now in Tottenham but no one can disagree with me wanting to follow my dream," said Berbatov.
He also insisted he was not annoyed at being left out of Spurs' starting line-up for the opening game of the season at Middlebrough on Saturday.
"I'm not angry about the decision of Juande Ramos to name me as a substitute. I'm not crying.
"I only show my emotions to my close friends and family.
"But if I was laughing when I was on the bench, people would say I was an idiot.
"I noticed that Eric Cantona never smiled but I don't know if anyone ever asked him why he didn't look happier."
