New Tottenham signing Darren Bent has suggested that Barcelona secured Thierry Henry "on the cheap".
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, the 23-year-old England international admitted his surprise that the French World Cup and European Championship winner cost the Catalan club some £400,000 less than the £16.5 million Tottenham paid for his services.
The former Charlton striker said: "I think Barca got Thierry on the cheap as I'd have put him in the £30 million bracket", adding: "But the price Charlton put on my head has nothing to do with me, I'm just grateful that Spurs took it."
Commenting on his move to White Hart Lane, Tottenham's most expensive ever purchase also said he was looking forward to the challenge of coming to a club which possesses such a distinguished forward line.
"I don't expect to walk into the team. Robbie [Keane] and Jermain [Defoe] were both fantastic last season, and Dimitar [Berbatov] had a great season."
He added: "I'm aware of the challenge, but if me, Dimitar, Robbie and Jermain are all firing, it can only be good for Tottenham."
Bent, who has announced his arrival as one of the most promising young forwards in British football after scoring 37 goals in 77 appearances for Charlton, said he had chosen to head to Tottenham rather than West Ham "to play at the top level and to play in Europe".
