Bangladesh put together a spirited display to overcome India in the two teams' open group B fixture of the cricket World Cup in Trinidad.
The Tigers managed to bowl India out for a meagre 191 before carefully knocking off the runs with nine balls to spare.
Such a result seemed unthinkable despite the early losses of Virender Sehwag (2) and Robin Uthappa (9).
After Indian superstar Sachin Tendulkar departed for just seven runs and Rahul Dravid departed soon after, however, the Tigers looked like they might make a game of it with India on 72-4.
An 85-run fifth-wicket stand between Yuvraj Singh (47) and Sourav Ganguly, who top-scored with 66, appeared to restore the natural order but India were then rocked by a devastating lower-order collapse.
Five wickets fell for just one run in only 11 balls, devastating the Indian innings and giving the Bangladeshi bowlers extremely impressive figures.
Mashrafe Mortaza took 4-38 while Abdur Razzak and Mohammad Rafique both claimed three scalps from their ten overs, going for 38 and 35 runs respectively.
An irritating last-wicket stand of 31 gave the Indian attack something to bowl at on a pitch that certainly offered them plenty of encouragement.
Instead the hotly-tipped India side found little early encouragement apart from the early wicket of Shahriar Nafees. Opener Tamim Iqbal dominated the bowling, smashing two sixes and seven boundaries on his way to a 53-ball 51.
The match seemed finely poised when Aftab Ahmed was the third wicket to fall, leaving Bangladesh requiring 113 runs from the remaining 35 overs.
But Saqibul Hasan (53) and Mushfiqur Rahim (56) put on 84 for the fourth wicket, allowing the Tigers to relax in the final overs as they completed the tournament's first major upset.
