League Two side Notts County have named Sven Goran Eriksson's former assistant Hans Backe as their new manager.
The Swede, who has worked alongside County director of football Eriksson at Manchester City and the Mexican national team in recent years, has been appointed on a three-year contract.
"Notts County are this afternoon pleased to announce the appointment of Hans Backe as the club's new first-team manager," read a brief statement from the club.
"Hans starts his duties with immediate effect."
Backe takes over from Ian McParland, who was sacked by the Magpies last week despite leading the club to fifth place in the table.
The 57-year-old has four Danish league titles to his name from his time at FC Copenhagen and Aalborg.
However, expectations at Meadow Lane are high due to the club's recent big-money takeover by a group of investors operating under the banner of Middle Eastern financial management firm Qadbak Investments.
