Hans Backe has been named as assistant manager at Manchester City as the overhaul at Eastlands continues.
Backe, who has won three Danish league titles with FC Copenhagen, will join new manager Sven-Goran Eriksson and fellow assistant Tord Grip on City's new management team.
The 55-year-old Swede has also managed Panathinaikos and is a well-known TV pundit in his homeland.
Welcoming him to his new club, Eriksson told Manchester City's official website: "I've known Hans for a very long time, and I offered him this job but because he has been a manager I didn't know if he would accept.
"He's won three titles with FC Copenhagen, managed in Austria and Turkey, but he accepted the offer and I'm very happy.
"He has a lot of experience, he knows a lot of players from around the world and he's a very good coach."
Describing his right-hand man and former England assistant Grip's role at the club, Eriksson said that he will be doing a "little bit of everything".
It has been a busy day for the former England boss after City confirmed the signing of 20-year-old Gelson Fernandes from FC Sion.
Fernandes joins Italian striker Rolando Bianchi at Eastlands as Eriksson builds up his squad for the new season.
