Canadian musician Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from her singer husband Deryck Whibley, court documents have shown.
The couple announced they were to separate last month, after three years of marriage.
In documents filed at the Superior Court in Los Angeles on Friday, 24-year-old Lavigne cited the oft-used reason of irreconcilable differences for seeking the divorce from Sum 41 frontman Whibley.
The papers also show the the pair's property rights are yet to be determined but also that Lavigne has asked the court to deny spousal support to her estranged husband.
In a statement confirming their separation last month, Complicated singer Lavigne said she and Whibley were "moving forward on a positive note".
Whibley, 29, had added that his marriage to Lavigne encompassed "the most amazing years of my life" and said the decision to part ways was amicable.
The Girlfriend singer and Sum 41 member were married at a private estate in Montecito, California, in July 2006, having dated for two years, but had reportedly been living apart for some time prior to their separation.
