Avatar continues to reign over UK box office charts

James Cameron blockbuster Avatar has returned to the top of the UK box office charts after a week at number two.
The 20th Century Fox film took £2.8 million in its tenth weekend on release to reclaim the number one spot and take its total UK takings to £83.2 million.
Avatar's reclamation of the UK number one comes after its relatively disappointing showing at the Baftas, with the sci-fi epic taking two technical prizes while its main awards season rival The Hurt Locker was awarded six, including best film and best director.
Elsewhere in the UK charts, last week's number one Valentine's Day fell to fourth while Peter Jackson's adaptation of bestselling novel The Lovely Bones was the highest new entry in third.
Horror remake The Wolfman slipped out of the top five while period action film Solomon Kane was the other new entry in the UK top ten, debuting in seventh.
