Swansea City caused the upset of the day in the FA Cup third round as they overcame Premiership side Sheffield United 3-0 at Bramall Lane.
Neil Warnock's side were undone by three goals in 11 second-half minutes as Thomas Butler struck twice before Leon Britton put the game out of sight with a powerful spot-kick.
Hull City will get another shot at beating Middlesbrough as a late Nicky Forster strike cancelled out Mark Viduka's 73rd-minute goal and picked up a 1-1 draw for the Tigers.
Fulham's progress was also barred by a late leveller as they were held 2-2 away at Leicester.
Former Everton striker Danny Cadamarteri added to Patrick Kisnorbo's effort in injury time to equalise goals from Moritz Volz and Brian McBride.
