Carlos Tevez says he will cope better with the pressure of playing for Manchester United than fellow Argentinean Juan Sebastian Veron.
Veron cost the Red Devils £28.1 million in 2001 but never settled in English football and has been on loan for the last three seasons after an ill-fated move to Chelsea.
Alex Ferguson looks to be close to sealing a deal for Tevez and the striker has promised to perform for the club if he joins them.
Tevez says he has spoken to Veron about his time in Manchester and insists he revels in the sort of pressure that the midfielder crumbled under.
He told the Daily Mirror: "I have spoken with Veron about Manchester United and about how difficult it is for the team and for the players to triumph because of all the pressure put on them.
"There is almost an obligation to win every game when you are at Manchester United. Nothing else is acceptable."
The 23-year-old says he has experienced that sort of expectation during his time with Boca Juniors and wants to repeat it in English football.
He said: "That is very difficult for most players to live with but believe me when I say that those sort of challenges are attractive to me. I enjoy that pressure. It makes me fight harder."
Tevez showed his calmness under pressure by helping West Ham beat the drop last season. The Argentinean said Alan Curbishley's side were a great team to play for but that he could not pass up the chance of joining United.
It is still unclear whether the Hammers own Tevez but United are reported to have reached an agreement with the player's agent, Kia Joorabchian, for him to move to Old Trafford.
