Manchester United chief executive David Gill has spoken of his frustration over negotiating a deal for West Ham United striker Carlos Tevez.
The Argentinean, who is set to return from the Copa America this week in order to finalise a deal to move to Old Trafford, joined the Hammers last summer from Corinthians.
However his switch to United has been put on hold amid rumours that there remains some paperwork in place which could scupper a deal.
Speculation suggests that Tevez is still part-owned by his representative Kia Joorabchian, which would contravene Premier League rules, and Gill has confirmed that there are indeed other parties heavily involved in the negotiations.
"We are working on it and clearly it's complicated overcomplicated in my humble opinion," he told the Reuters news agency.
"And we are working, effectively, with four other parties in order to sort it out: the player, West Ham, the companies who own his economic rights and the Premier League."
While he admitted having reservations about the deal for the player, Gill also said he is "very confident that that can be achieved in the course of the next week or so".
"The process is going on as we speak," he continued. "Obviously the deal is subject to sorting out all the paperwork.
"The player is coming over to Manchester and will have a medical some time this week."
