Goalkeeper Roy Carroll has joined Rangers on a one-year deal after completing a free transfer from West Ham United.
Manager Walter Smith has brought in the experienced shot-stopper to compete with current goalkeepers Allan McGregor and Graeme Smith.
Carroll said the move was a dream come true as he had supported Rangers growing up in Northern Ireland.
He said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for me and I had no hesitation in accepting the offer. I have made no secret that I am a Rangers fan so this really is a bit of a dream for me.
"I know it's going to be a battle to get into the team but I'm ready to fight."
The 29-year-old struggled to get into West Ham's first-choice line-up last season after being deposed by Robert Green.
However, Rangers manager Walter Smith said he had no hesitation about bringing the former Manchester United keeper to Ibrox after working with him before.
Smith said: "I know Roy from my time at Old Trafford and I know his capabilities. I said before that we needed to strengthen the squad and we now have great competition in the goalkeeping department."
The Rangers boss reported that the club had withdrawn their offer for Kilmarnock striker Steven Naismith as the two clubs are too far apart in their valuation of the player.
But Smith insisted the club were still looking to enhance the squad before the start of the season, having already added Osasuna defender Carlos Cuellar earlier this week.
