Fulham have completed the signing of USA international striker Eddie Johnson on a three-and-a-half year deal.
The Cottagers were waiting for a work permit to be granted by the Home Office. A tribunal was held today and the club successfully argued that Johnson would be an asset to the Premiership.
Johnson has signed from Major League Soccer side Kansas City Wizards, putting pen to paper on a deal that could keep him at the club until 2011.
Since arriving at Craven Cottage manager Roy Hodgson has looked to bolster his forward options and has already bought Watford's Marlon King during the January transfer window.
The addition of Johnson should aid a strike force that has struggled to consistently find the back of the net this season.
Johnson has made 31 appearances for America, scoring 11 goals, and will provide instant cover for fellow countryman Brain McBride who is currently injured.
Hodgson was delighted to have captured the talented 23-year-old.
He said: "I have made no secret of the fact that I believe the squad lacks a certain balance in specific areas of the team and following the loss of Brian McBride to injury, this is true of our strike force.
"At 6'1'' inches tall Eddie has the presence that will complement the other forwards within our squad and he has the ability to offer us another dimension to our attacking play."
Hodgson also hopes to add former Liverpool and Ajax striker Jari Litmanen to his squad after the Finnish international joined the club for training this week. The 36-year-old would be available on a free transfer.
