A strike from Nani was enough for Manchester United to beat an unlucky Tottenham Hotspur side 1-0 at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese player's first goal in the Premier League came after a decent spell from Spurs saw them denied a penalty claim.
A goal line clearance from Rio Ferdinand also prevented a strong Spurs side stealing all three points from the defending champions.
Nani struck from 25 yards and a slight deflection Carlos Tevez took the ball past Paul Robinson.
Spurs saw a clearance from Wes Brown in the box appear to come off his arm, although on closer inspection it could have been his chest.
Dimitar Berbatov was pulled down in the box, but got up and saw his shot go under Edwin Van Der Sar only to be cleared of the line by Ferdinand.
A clever shot from the Bulgarian near the left-hand side of the box also looked a certain goal, but the effort just went slightly high and wide.
Spurs had hit the woodwork as early as the first minute and United laboured in the first half with several balls into the box that were easily dealt with by the Spurs defence.
But Sir Alex Ferguson's side kept plugging away and eventually broke Spurs' hearts with a decent finish from Nani.
