Tottenham booked their place in the Uefa Cup knockout stages after a 1-1 draw in Anderlecht this evening.
Striker Dimitar Berbatov scored a penalty to earn Tottenham a point form a game which hardly got out of first gear.
The first-half was especially poor as the best Spurs could manage were long-range efforts from Tom Huddlestone and Jermaine Jenas which failed to trouble the Anderlecht keeper.
But Spurs had keeper Paul Robinson to thank for going in level at half-time. The England star made a fine double save to deny efforts from Marcin Wasilweski and Nico Frutos.
Captain Robbie Keane should have given Spurs the lead at the start of the second-half but his tame shot from a Pascal Chimbonda cross was easily turned away by Daniel Zitka in the Anderlecht goal.
Didier Zokora then saved his side from going a goal down as his excellent last ditch challenge stopped Emile Mpenza from having a free run on goal.
The home side weren't made to wait long to take the lead. Mpenza fired a ball across the Spurs goal and as Michael Dawson and Jenas left it to each other to clear the danger, veteran Belgium player Bart Goor snuck in to score.
But Spurs hit back only a minute later as Jenas was brought down when through on goal. Berbatov was his typical composed self to bring his side back in the game.
Both teams bombed forward looking for the win and Jermain Defoe had two good chances from the edge of the Anderlecht goal, but he was unable to find the net.
