Tottenham Hotspur have used fines racked up by players over the last five years to help an orphanage in South Africa.
The London side have pledged £100,000 on a project in Rustenburg in North West province in conjunction with SOS Children's Villages.
Fines ranging from being late for training to more serious disciplinary matters were used to fund the project.
SOS Children's Villages International is the world's largest orphan and abandoned children charity and the club said they were proud to be involved with the project.
Former Leeds and Charlton defender and long-time South Africa captain Lucas Radebe is also an official ambassador for the charity.
A spokesman for the club said: "We established a link on a tour four years ago and we'll be going back there this summer.
"We're proud to be the first football club to do something like this. The players have a strong interest in the scheme."
About 20 per cent of the funds raised by Spurs will go directly to the orphanage while the rest will be given to the local community via the club's foundation.
Tottenham will be in South Africa later in the year as part of their preparations for the upcoming Premiership campaign.
The first match takes place on July 21st against the Kaizer Chiefs in Durban and three days later they will face the Orlando Pirates at Newlands in Cape Town.
Spurs are expected to travel with a strong squad, including the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Aaron Lennon for the games in South Africa.
