Michael Carrick says he is sad to see Carlos Queiroz leave United
Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has admitted the club's former assistant manager Carlos Queiroz will be a difficult man to replace at Old Trafford.

Carrick, who joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur two years ago, said Queiroz's influence had been "a big part" of the club's success in recent seasons.

However, he has said he can understand why the Portuguese tactician has left his post in order to take over from Luiz Felipe Scolari as the manager of his national side following the Brazilian's decision to leave for Chelsea.

"It's always sad to see people leave the club and Carlos was a big part of this club and, along with the boss, had a lot to say about how it was run," Carrick told the club's official television channel MUTV.

"But he’s gone on to something different and as players we can appreciate that. We wish him all the best."

United have won back-to-back Premier League titles with Queiroz and manager Sir Alex Ferguson at the helm.

And the impact of Queiroz has not been lost on many pundits, having cited him as a major reason for the club's ability to sign players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson from Portugal in the last few years.End of story
