Sunderland manager Roy Keane has revealed that former Manchester United team-mate Andrew Cole has completed his move to the Stadium of Light.
The 35-year-old striker has signed a one-year deal at the club on a free transfer after passing his medical today.
Cole and Keane were team-mates at Old Trafford between 1995 and 2001.
The move was relatively straightforward with Cole being a free agent after his release by Portsmouth and he joins Keane and another former United team-mate, Dwight Yorke, on Wearside.
"Coley's having a medical today and hopefully it will be done by the weekend," Keane told a press conference this morning.
"I spoke to him earlier in the week, agreed terms on Wednesday and he will be joining us for a year.
"His experience will be vital for us. I spoke last week about the fact that we don't have too much experience in the dressing room and there's no harm in bringing in one or two
lads who have done the course and know what it is all about."
Keane was not optimistic on veteran Cole's chances of playing against Liverpool tomorrow.
He also revealed he was doubtful over whether the former Red Devil would be fit for a return to Old Trafford next weekend when the Black Cats travel to Manchester.
"He hasn't trained with us yet and I don't imagine he will be match-fit, so it's unlikely he will figure this weekend, maybe not until after the international break," he added.
