Bryan Robson and Brian Kidd are set to be unveiled as the new management team at Sheffield United tomorrow, according to media reports.
Robson, a former manager at Championship level with West Bromwich Albion Middlesbrough and Bradford City, is being lined up to replace Neil Warnock in the Bramall Lane hotseat after he resigned last week.
Warnock, who had been in charge of the South Yorkshire club for eight years, failed to maintain United's Premiership status in their first season in the top flight after winning promotion last year.
And it is now thought that Blades chairman Terry Robinson is looking at Robson as the man to guide his club back into the Premiership at the first attempt, with fellow former Manchester United man Brian Kidd as his assistant.
"I've had initial enquiries from Sheffield United," Robson confirmed to Sky Sports a few days ago.
"I said when I left West Brom in October I'd like to get back into the game.
"I enjoy the management side and the coaching of the players. Sheffield United are a big club and the type of challenge I'd be looking for."
Former manager Warnock is apparently being lined up by new Leicester owner Milan Mandaric as the next manager at the Walkers Stadium. He has ruled out an approach for former Fulham boss Chris Coleman, who was sacked from the west London club earlier this year.
