Sheffield United chairman Terry Robinson has revealed that neither Stuart McCall or Chris Coleman will succeed Neil Warnock as the club's manager.
The pair were believed to be front-runners for the Bramall Lane hot-seat, but Robinson claims neither has the necessary experience to ensure a swift return to the top flight after this season's relegation from the Premiership.
"Stuart [McCall] has given good service to United and the last manager. He has gained good experience, and I'm sure that there will be interest in his services as a manager in the lower divisions," he said of Warnock's assistant.
"However, we didn't feel that he fulfilled all of the criteria in terms of experience at this stage."
Coleman, who was jettisoned by Fulham in a successful bid to stave off the drop, is out of the running for similar reasons.
"Chris Coleman is another that we have heard mentioned and, although he has good experience as a footballer and manager at the top level, he doesn't fit all of the criteria in terms of managing at Championship level," Robinson continued.
The Blades' chief did reveal a trio of veteran managers who he would be interested in luring to the club as he mentioned Bryan Robson, Peter Reid and Dave Bassett as more likely successors.
