Reading winger Stephen Hunt has signed a new three-year contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2010.
The 25-year-old, who played in more than 30 games last year, earned his first international cap for the Republic of Ireland on the back of a solid debut Premiership season.
And Reading director of football Nick Hammond said he is pleased to have secured the player's services beyond his existing two-year deal.
"Stephen Hunt is a great example of what can be achieved with belief, dedication and willpower," he told the Reading website.
"He rose to the challenge last season with some superb performances to become a key member of our team.
"We think he will get even better in the next three years."
Hunt himself added: "I'm very pleased to sign. Over the last couple of seasons Reading football club has become a very big part of my life.
"Hopefully both the club and myself will continue to move forward. I am very happy to stay."
Reading have now begun pre-season training in preparation for their second Premiership season, beginning in a month's time.
The Berkshire club will be hoping to improve on a solid eighth position last year which saw them narrowly miss out on European qualification.
