Reading manager Steve Coppell has promised not to stand in the way of Nicky Shorey or Leroy Lita if the star pair want January moves away from the club.
Both players were integral parts of Reading's strong Premier League campaign last season which saw them defy critics to finish just outside Uefa Cup qualifying places in eighth.
However it seems that Coppell is now ready to cash in on his prized assets after growing weary of their attitude.
"The one thing I will say, and that goes for everyone here, is that I only want players who want to play for the club," he told the Reading Chronicle.
"If they don't, and for whatever reason that might be, it's best for all concerned if they move on.
"Supporters only want players who want to be here giving their all. That rule undoubtedly applies to the whole squad including Leroy and Nicky. That doesn't change for different individuals."
Shorey, who made his England debut in the 1-1 friendly draw against Brazil this summer, has stalled over signing a new contract with the Royals, while Lita's absence from Coppell's last three matchday squads has hinted at a backroom bust-up.
Lita also recently boosted his transfer value with a starring role and three goals in England Under-21s run to the semi finals of the European Championship.
It is estimated that the Madejski Stadium coffers could be swelled by around £10 million should both players leave.
Shorey has attracted interest from West Ham and Newcastle while Lita's situation is reportedly being monitored by Sunderland and Portsmouth.
