Chelsea have signed striker Claudio Pizarro on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
The Peru international becomes the Blues' second signing of the summer following the purchase of midfielder Steve Sidwell on a free transfer form Reading.
Pizarro, 28, scored 12 goals in all competitions last season including four goals in the Champions League.
The striker said he was looking forward to helping the Blues' European challenge next season.
"I think it's very important for me to win some titles and I have the chance to win them here," Pizarro told the club's official website.
"The most important thing is the Champions League which I was looking to win with Bayern, but we didn't have the chance.
"I think now we have a good team, a good trainer and the chance to win it.
"I had some interesting offers but the most important thing was that I talked to the coach (Jose Mourinho), I talked to the people here and they were very interested."
After rejecting a contract extension at Bayern, Pizarro had been linked with a move to Glasgow Rangers and Uefa Cup winners Sevilla.
Bayern swooped for Italy striker Luca Toni forcing Pizarro to leave after six years in Munich.
Despite signing two players on free transfers, Blues boss Roman Abramovich insisted yesterday he will continue to splash the cash at Stamford Bridge.
