Arsenal and Czech Republic midfielder Tomas Rosicky has been ruled out for the rest of the season and may also miss this summer's European Championships.
The 27-year-old, who is a regular captain of the Czech national side, suffered a knee injury in January during the Gunners' FA Cup victory over Newcastle United.
Despite intensive treatment from the Arsenal medical team, the playmaker has been unable to feature for his club for the last ten weeks.
And now Czech team doctor Petr Krejci, who has been involved in all the key decisions over Rosicky's fitness, has cast doubt on the former Borussia Dortmund star's availability for the tournament in Austria and Switzerland.
"It is possible that the problem could fade away in two weeks, but it could also last for another three months," he told Czech daily publication Sport.
"Since he has already been out for two months, we are in a tricky situation."
Krejci also revealed that Czech national coach Karel Bruckner is "very worried" about the availability of Rosicky, who the doctor described as "a big player for us".
"He would be a big loss," Krejci continued.
"He can run and jog now, but when he does it for a prolonged period of time it begins to hurt him.
"He would be afraid of sprinting at the moment and as such he is yet to resume full training. We are not prepared to risk him ahead of Euro 2008.
"He is already resigned to missing the rest of the Premier League season, so his priority now is the European Championships."
